The Stories Aren't Meant to Stay Mine

The Stories Aren't Meant to Stay Mine

When I first started sharing the stories behind my fragrances, I wondered if I was making a mistake. Why would anyone want to smell my childhood?

You didn't grow up on Manzanita Drive. You never climbed the tree fort my neighbors built. You didn't spend summer afternoons surrounded by hollyhocks taller than you, listen to the wind moving through the eucalyptus tree outside my bedroom window, fall asleep to the distant foghorn, or wake each morning to the cool coastal fog.

Those memories belong to me.

So what do they have to do with you?

For a while, I worried I was making this brand too personal. I wondered if people would feel like they were stepping into someone else's story.

Then I realized...

That was never my intention. Maybe these stories aren't here so you'll remember my life. Maybe they're here so you'll remember yours. I've always believed scent is different from our other senses. A photograph reminds us what a place looked like. A song reminds us what a moment sounded like.

But scent has a way of bringing us back before we even realize it.

One familiar fragrance can transport us years into the past—to a kitchen we haven't stood in for decades, a favorite vacation, a grandparent's home, or a place we thought we'd forgotten.

That's why every fragrance I create begins with a memory.

Not because I expect it to become yours...

But because I hope it helps you rediscover one of your own.

Every fragrance in this collection began with a memory because memories have a funny way of shaping the places we carry with us. But once a fragrance leaves my studio, it isn't really mine anymore.

Maybe Morning Dwell reminds you of opening the windows in your first apartment.

Maybe Quiet Tide feels like a rainy Sunday spent with someone you love.

Maybe Still Harbor takes you back to a quiet morning on the water.

Maybe Evening Drift reminds you of winding down after a long day.

Maybe Leather Bound brings back afternoons spent wandering through old bookstores.

Maybe Midnight Atlas reminds you of somewhere you've always dreamed of going.

Maybe Manzanita Sun reminds you of absolutely nothing I've described...

...but everything about a place that's special to you.

That's the part I care about.

I don't want you to borrow my memories. I hope these fragrances help you reconnect with your own.

I'll continue sharing the stories behind each fragrance and the moments that inspired them—not because I expect you to relive my memories, but because I hope they encourage you to rediscover yours.

Because somewhere between your memories and mine...

...I think we'll discover what home really means.

I'd Love to Hear Your Story

What place has never really left you?

Was it a quiet street? A family cabin? A grandparent's kitchen? The first home that truly felt like yours? A beach? A mountain town?

Or maybe it isn't a place at all.

Maybe it's simply a scent.

If one of these fragrances reminds you of someone, somewhere, or some moment you've carried with you through life, I'd love to hear about it.

Join the Drift & Dwell Collective and share the place, scent, or memory that still feels like home.

Because while these fragrances may have started with my memories... the stories were never meant to stay mine.
